It’s not like ordering at home. Once you know the structure, everything makes sense.
An Italian restaurant menu follows a fixed order. You don’t have to order every course — most Italians don’t — but knowing what each one is stops you from looking confused when the waiter asks “E come secondo?” before you’ve even finished your pasta.
Many restaurants offer a fixed-price lunch menu — usually €10–15, includes a primo, secondo, water and bread. It won’t be offered to you automatically. Ask for it.
You will see extra lines on your bill. Neither is optional, neither is a mistake.
